Qualification Structure for NVQ/SVQ Level 2

The candidate must achieve all mandatory units plus at least one unit from Option Group 1 plus a further four optional units from Group E (10 units in all).

Note: that the options selected can include the remaining unit within Option Group1 if appropriate.

Mandatory Units

Unit CU2 Monitor and maintain health and safety

Unit CU5 Develop personal performance and maintain working relationships

Unit CU6 Maintain communications and records within the organisation

Unit LP4 Assist in establishing and maintaining conditions appropriate to the
welfare of livestock

Unit LP5 Assist with maintaining the healthy performance of livestock

Option Group 1

Unit LP6 Maintain site biosecurity and personal hygiene

Unit LP7 Provide feed and water to livestock

Group E – Poultry Production

Unit LP11 Assist with establishing livestock within their accommodation

Unit LP15 Maintain a mechanically-controlled livestock production environment

Unit LP16 Enable birds to reproduce

Unit LP17 Brood and grow young birds

Unit LP18 Receive and select eggs for hatching

Unit LP19 Assist with selecting livestock and preparing them for transfer

Unit LP20 Load and incubate hatching eggs

Unit LP21 Hatch and despatch poultry

Unit LP22 Assist with establishing and maintaining egg production

Unit LP23 Collect, grade and prepare eggs for transport

Unit CU8 Transport supplies of physical resources within the work area

Unit CU11 Prepare and operate a tractor with attachments

Unit CU12 Prepare and operate a power vehicle

Unit CU20 Maintain and repair structures and surfaces

Unit CU27 Maintain equipment and machines

Unit CU42 Load and unload animals for transport
