Qualification Structure for NVQ/SVQ Level 3

The candidate must achieve all mandatory units plus at least one unit from Option Group 1 plus a further four optional units from Group E (10 units in all).

Note: that the options selected can include the remaining unit within Option Group1 if appropriate.

Mandatory Units

Unit CU3 Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security

Unit CU5 Develop personal performance and maintain working relationships

Unit CU7 Receive, transmit and store information within the workplace

Unit LP24 Establish, monitor and maintain conditions appropriate to the welfare of livestock

Unit LP25 Promote and maintain the healthy performance of livestock

Option Group 1

Unit LP26 Establish, monitor and maintain site hygiene and biosecurity

Unit LP27 Monitor, maintain and evaluate the provision of feed and water to livestock

Group E – Poultry Production

Unit LP30 Prepare, and receive livestock into, their accommodation

Unit LP32 Monitor and maintain the selection of livestock and prepare them for transfer

Unit LP33 Collect and prepare semen for the future artificial insemination of livestock

Unit LP36 Prepare, monitor and maintain a mechanically-controlled livestock production
environment

Unit LP37 Plan, monitor and evaluate the disposal of waste

Unit LP38 Monitor and maintain the reproduction of poultry

Unit LP39 Monitor and maintain the brooding and growth of young birds

Unit LP40 Monitor and maintain the receipt and selection of eggs for hatching

Unit LP41 Monitor and maintain the loading and incubation of hatching eggs

Unit LP42 Monitor and maintain the hatching and despatch of poultry

Unit CU9 Transport and maintain supplies of physical resources within the work area
