What Training Courses?

We have available a large range of especially written short courses tailored to food production, associated rural businesses and each sector of the poultry industry to target specific training needs. All areas of training can be addressed (many with assessment to meet assurance and welfare audits).

Delivered by?

Industry professional instructors, sought from a national base who are able to meet the high specifications, companies and customers expect.

Course Length

Generally 1-2 day courses with some specialist courses being longer. Also some courses may be modulised for shorter sessions e.g. half days or evenings. These can be delivered where ever required.

Certification

Certificates of attendance or assessment are achieved on completion from the appropriate awarding body or provider.

Funding

Funding continues to be actively sought (for an industry that does not receive any subsidy or grants) to further develop and improve the skills base. There are regional pockets of funding available. In addition, there is currently funding available for training courses and delivery of NVQ's following completion of a training needs assessment for people who derive a direct income from their farm or holding. This is resourced by Progressive Poultry Training and funded by Defra and European Agricultural Guarantee Fund. Other sources of funding will continue to be resourced on both a national and regional basis. Those that do not qualify for funding under VTS rules for example e.g. those in non farming business will be required to pay at a higher unsibsidised rate.

Time Limit

All funding is allocated on a first come basis and follows a training needs assessment.

What Else is Available?

Courses to meet general agricultural and management needs, some of which can also be accessed through a vast network of associated providers, so allowing businesses and individual's to address all their identified training and management needs. NVQ's and training for other sectors of Agriculture, Horticulture, Amenity Horticulture, Fencing, Floristry, Customer Service, Administration etc are all available through Skill Solutions. Candidates can be just registered and certificated or, the complete assessment and training package can be delivered.
