The courses identified below are just a selection of the total range of available short courses. All instructors and assessors are professional experts in their fields and courses may be delivered in venues of the employer's choice or where required. |
Farm Waste Management Plans 
Development of farm waste management plans are
now becoming more required. This course covers how this should be done and
met in order to meet ever changing legislation and to ensure responsible
handling for the protection of the environment
Managing nutrients in Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (NVZ's)
Preparing for IPPC regulations
Reducing pollution on
poultry farms
With forthcoming legislation being now
implemented for all new poultry sites (over the prescribed numbers of places)
existing producers will also come under the same regulations for the requirement
of a Prevention Pollution Control Permit as from 2007. The guidelines cover
waste management over the following areas, feed delivery and storage; housing;
feeding and watering; egg cleaning; pesticide, biocides and veterinary medicine
use; maintaining agricultural machinery and vehicles; fuel use and fuelling
activities; handling of litter and manure, disposal of animal carcasses,
general waste and contaminated land
Reducing Water Pollution on
the Livestock Farm
This course covers the areas
where contamination of water courses may arise, the legislation, consequences
and how to best deal with these issues and minimise pollution.
Protecting Air Quality
This course covers the legislation and identifying
the source of odours. Implementation of best practice with husbandry techniques
and disposal of waste
