met in order to meet ever changing legislation and to ensure responsible
handling for the protection of the environment

Reducing pollution on
poultry farms ![]()
With forthcoming legislation being now
implemented for all new poultry sites (over the prescribed numbers of places)
existing producers will also come under the same regulations for the requirement
of a Prevention Pollution Control Permit as from 2007. The guidelines cover
waste management over the following areas, feed delivery and storage; housing;
feeding and watering; egg cleaning; pesticide, biocides and veterinary medicine
use; maintaining agricultural machinery and vehicles; fuel use and fuelling
activities; handling of litter and manure, disposal of animal carcasses,
general waste and contaminated land
Reducing Water Pollution on
the Livestock Farm ![]()
This course covers the areas
where contamination of water courses may arise, the legislation, consequences
and how to best deal with these issues and minimise pollution.
Protecting Air Quality ![]()
This course covers the legislation and identifying
the source of odours. Implementation of best practice with husbandry techniques
and disposal of waste
